Our 2009 Summer Program will run from June 15th through July 31st at Grace
Episcopal Church, 514 E. Argonne Avenue in Kirkwood. Our hours of operation are
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Our program activities focus on three key elements:
- Cultural - Our cultural program is a two-fold one: taking participants on field
trips to culturally enriching venues and with on-site speakers. We also have an
African American Culture class within our Educational Program.
- Educational - Our educational program provides classes for all ages in the
areas of Arts & Crafts, Health & Nutrition, Math, Performing Arts, Reading and
Sewing.
- Recreational - The focus of our recreational program is to stimulate the desire
for and fulfill the need for physical activity.
SPROG provides
meaningful summer activities ~ positive alternatives to illegal activity, drugs and
gangs ~ recreational activities~ leadership and workforce training ~ summer
employment for youth
SPROG helps
build self-esteem ~ broaden the cultural experience by visiting field trip sites ~
learn nutritional awareness ~ children learn water safety with weekly swimming ~
children maintain academic proficiency during the summer months
